2003 Archive

It’s Valentine’s Day 2022, a 20th anniversary for The Kills and a sweet memory for MusicFilter

Congratulations to Alison and Jamie “The Kills”. This news reminds of a poignant moment in MusicFilter history since The Kills first album “Keep On Your Mean Side” would become BMF’s very first album review on April 21, 2003 for his newly launched site. The Kills got their own “page” and their album was the first to make the new sidebar and we were so excited about it. This album will always remain a favorite and I imagine it contains those five songs.

Web technology has come a long way since 2003. We used to install a MP3 song sample and that was quite the process but we loved it so much. Now it’s just posting a link to get the whole deal. If you haven’t played this album a hundred times already … get ready:

True love is everlasting and never forgotten and this will serve as a sweet Valentine for me today. I’ll listen to these songs again and remember those days with you. Miss you madly.

BMF aka Saitou Hajime

Today we remember BMF on his birthday.
He had many skills and his girlfriends miss him. 🙁
BMF was a crazy sexy smoker. But he did end up with cancer.
Despite being a man of many skills he could not fight off this monster.
We urge everyone to stop smoking now because we love you and want you to stay.

A July 18, 2003 MusicFilter Flashback

“Saitou Hajime”

A man of many skills, Saitou Hajime is not someone to take lightly.  Originally of the Shinsengumi group, he later became a government agent. He posed as a medicine peddler when searching for Kenshin at the Kamiya Dojo. Going by several names, he calls himself Fujita Gorou.  Also known as Mibu’s wolf, his reputation as a cunning and merciless man proceed him in most situations.

Best Morning Fuckever.

What makes Saitou Hajime so great anyway?

1.He uses his left hand to fight, which is almost as good as being left-handed!
2.He can light his cigarette under any weather condition on the first try without lighting his hair on fire.
3.He’s hardcore and he’s a bad guy.
4.He’s not handsome but really gorgeous and he belongs to me. 🙂
5.He acts so cool even when there’s something bad going on.
6.He is too sexy to resist.
7.He doesn’t care what everybody thinks.
8.He is the ultimate chain smoker and doesn’t have any symptoms of cancer.
9.He is the most masculine guy.
10.And the most tender.

Nobody makes me smile like you do.

VOLUME IV

Volume IV from Atlanta play the type of music I can really get into. These guys are throwin’ down some classic hard stuff. Sounds DEEP, and HARD and cool. This is the kind of music you feel in your gut.

The Kills 03

The Kills “Keep On Your Mean Side” I just brought this album to Miss Chicky who looked over at me and said, “This music is made for us”. My first impressions: raw, simple, sexy, hard, soft, cool, original, and we’re only on track five.

This is definitely one of the best albums I’ve heard so far this year. It’s unusual to like every track on an album but this one passes that test. I especially like “Superstition” and “Fried My Little Brains”. The Kills at the Magic Stick in Detroit on April 29, 2003. I hope they show up in Atlanta.

My first impressions stand after listening to the CD a few more times. It only gets better each listen. Very sexy and very raw. This is music you can definately feel in your guts.
