The Raconteurs

Jack White is excited about his new-school power-pop band, The Raconeurs, with bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler (both from Cincinnati’s Greenhornes) and old buddy Brendan Benson. “The Greenhornes would totally stay at my house when they came to Detroit — we’ve done lots of jamming over the years, and we’d recorded 45s together,” says White. Benson and White had long discussed the idea of making a record together, White tells us, “but then we said, ‘Let’s start a new band!'” The first song they wrote together is “Steady, As She Goes,” which kicks off their new album, Broken Boy Soldiers. “We’re definitely touring,” says White. “The album is coming out in May, but I wish it was coming out next week.”

Fifteen

Buckcherry has always been of fave of MusicFilter designer Miss Chicky and after many nights of random playlists from the MusicFilter Jukebox I must agree that Josh Todd is one of the few Rock & Roll motherfuckers out there today. The band split after the “Time Bomb” tour.  The band recently reformed and features three new members – drummer Xavier Muriel, bassist Jimmy Ashhurst and guitarist Stevie D., a Chicago native.

“The band is better than it ever was,” Todd said. “I know the rhythm section is 10 times better than it ever was. People who are coming to the shows are blown away. It’s the band that we always wanted the band to be.”

“At the end of the ‘Time Bomb’ tour, it just didn’t seem like a band,” Todd said. “It just seemed like a bunch of individuals. Keith and I always remained the same and had the same passion for Buckcherry, but it just didn’t seem like the other guys did. This is really the ideal situation.”

I recently found a copy of “Fifteen” on ebay from Japan and presented it to Miss Chicky. About 10 minutes of tearing off in the Vette, she called me to say how ‘awesome’ the cd sounded. I’ve listened to it myself on the home system and must say it is very good. There is good press of the new cd and good press of the current live show, which is no suprise as I have a feeling that Josh comes across his very best live.

We will definatly attempt to see them live if they cross our pathes but in the meantime I hope Miss Chicky will take a minute and tell us all just how good the new cd really is. Her taste is impecable and I always love to read her thoughts on pretty much anything,,,specially about me and music.
