Sailor’s Grave Records – US Bombs – We are the Problem

Self described as a record company created to give birth to the soundtracks of life lived by those black eyes, bad luck, and bad tattoos. Shunning the veneer of pop punk and emo, Sailor’s Grave Records will be devoted to the genres of street punk and bad ass Rock & Roll. Look for new releases in 2006 from US Bombs, The Generators, Angel City Outcasts, Kings of Nuthin’, The Ducky Boys, Far from Finished, Mark Lind, The Welch Boys andmore.

The US Bombs new release “We are the Problem” will be out April 4th, but there is a link to buy the cd here. In the meantime you can download “Locked in my Skin” and buy the new 7″. The band will tour May 15th to June 12th. Hope they come around here but I doubt it. (oh but they sure as fuck did! – updated on 1/31/17)

The Tracklisting for the new Bombs cd is:

1. We Are The Problem
2. Get Me Wrong
3. Do It Again

Old Skars & Upstarts 2004

Official Site(dead link-left for reference)

(link update on 8/25/20 – Disaster Records has been long gone. BMF mentions it in one of his podcasts. Here is a great summary of the old Scars and Upstarts series. Not sure how Duane continues to survive, but BMF loved Duane Peters and would want this info updated.)

Anyway on with the show. ~mc~

Old Skars & Upstarts 2004

I’ve had this CD for about a month now and when I first listened to it a few tracks struck me as awesome. I stuck the CD in my car and have been listening to it now everyday pretty much. Each time I like each song a bit more. From what I understand Duane Peters puts these comps together himself and if that is the case this guy has got an ear for music like no other. EVERY SINGLE FUCKING SONG is a great song but for me personally The District – No Heart is my favorite as of today. Each day I listen, I have a new favorite and now they are all my faves. And why can’t I find any info on this band? The search will continue as it will for every band on this CD. They all kick ass in their own unique way. I was determined to keep my list of 28 albums everyone should own to just that…..25, but everytime I climb into my car to fight the dumbasses on the highways I have finally convinced myself that this CD belongs in the top 10 best comps I’ve ever heard. This is exactly what I hope MusicFilter can put together one day. A comp CD that is good from song one to the last track and only bands and songs that I like. Duane you inspire in ways you may not even realize.

Thanks to all the bands who answered my email for their info….

MusicFilter Vinyl

6/8/2019 – it’s 12:25 AM and I just found all those little album covers in BMF digital storage and transferred them back into the folder where they belong. A content feeling came over me as all the little X’s filled in.

And it’s true that BMF collected and owns all of these albums and so many more. After MusicFilter crashed in 2014 he was unable to update his vinyl list. He always planned to return and update his list because he was a serious list maker and the king of all sorters. Before he died he started a project of a detailed archive for each album. He began this project on Facebook for some reason under his long time user name of MusicfilterGoAheadPunk. Some asshole complained that was not his real name and Facebook took down all of his hard work! He begged them to return his writings but they refused. He started over but it really gave him the blues and his heart was not in it for long. Or maybe he just didn’t feel good enough to continue after that disappointing situation. But for me whatever he left is precious.

After his death I tried to get Facebook to give back his writings too but they were just too hard to deal with and I gave up trying as I try to deal with my own grief. So fuck Facebook for spoiling his good intent. Bitches and Bastards!

I don’t really know who cares what albums BMF collected. I just know he cared about it and now I’m the caretaker of his albums. I’ll go through each of them one day and diary them all just for him. I enjoy having and caring about his albums. (On 1/29/2022 I finally brought a stack of albums to Redbud. I’m going to set up BMF’s upright record player and start playing every one. And I’m going to catalogue them again on Discogs. He had already set up an account there in 2014 but never started adding his collection, so let me try and finish it for him. #1 will be Iggy Pop.) Old Skars and Upstarts 505

Richard Hell…I really like a good crunchy sentence.

August 10, 2005

Old Skars 505

Old Skars and Upstarts 505 is the latest comp put together by the Master of Disaster Duane Peters. I own all of them and all of them rank in my top 10 all time best cd list. This new one, “the 505 edition” is no exception. It begins with the “Bad Lieutnants” doing ‘Arizona Love’ that kind of sets the pace for an in your face dose of punk rock from around the globe. The Hunns cover the classic VH track “Ain’t Talkin’ bout Love” and not only do it justice but actually make it better with Duane and Corey trading off on vocals throughout. AWESOME stuff! The Lizzies (feat. Corey) contribute “Baby Black and Blue”. I can’t wait to hear some more from this band. None of the bands on this cd disappoint. Instead they all give you a sense that punk rock is alive and well despite all the CRAP being thrown at everyone that is labeled “punk”. Mr. Peters knows good music period. Now, as if this incredible comp cd isn’t enough, he has organized a tour featuring a lot of the bands on this edition of Old Skars. [more inside]

Duane Peters has a movie about his bad self…

We can make weed disappear right before your eyes.

July 19, 2003

Duane Peters has a movie about his bad self…… Check out the trailer to the upcoming DVD release of “Who Cares…The Duane Peters Story” which is due out by the end of this summer. DUANE PETERS is a skateboarder with serious cred. He’s generally acknowledged as the guy who consumated the union of punk rock and skateboarding, taking it from a la-la cruise by nerdy longhairs whose music of choice was the Eagles into the full-blown tough guy hardcore punk scene it is today. Here is a cool tribute to his skateboarding ability here. Check out some way cool downloads of The Hunns here.

But skating is just part of the fun for Duane, his other avocation is punk rock; and he’s pretty good at that too. Duane is the leader of the infamous U.S. BOMBS, and since 2000 he has started fronting The HUNNS. The HUNNS sound is raw, chainsaw, based on a classic formula : two Les Pauls, drums and bass. Duane, of course, sounds like Duane, but that’s the main similarity with the Bombs : the HUNNS delivery is much more street American rock’n’roll. Now with the addition of ex-Nashville Pussy COREY PARKS on bass, The HUNNS have become one of the best punk band playing anywhere in the world today.

The U.S. Bombs re-release of “Put Strength in the Final Blow” which was originally released in 94′ as a vinyl only album, now on CD with all tracks remixed by Duane and now features 4 tracks from the double 7inch of which only 500 copies were originally pressed. The whole thing has been remastered and includes liner notes from Duane himself. Go here to read more and download Bubble Gum from the “Put Strength in the Final Blow” CD.

If you don’t know about Duane Peters yet then go do so now…this guy is fuckin awesome.
