Dick Delicious & The Tasty Testicles – I want to Kill the Blackeyed Pea’s

I’ve always been a fan of Dick Delicious and the Tasty Testicles. In fact my avatar next to the address bar you see for “Whatever Happened to Rock & Roll Tumblr” is a shot of Dick D and myself getting happy at a show years ago in Knoxville. Anyways, they have some new music out and apparently a new album this summer. You MUST hear this song now though. I want to Kill the Black-eyed Peas is awesome stuff.

The Unsatisfied – Songs The Belt Taught Us

MusicFilter Album Review
Released April 24, 2011

April 16, 2011 by BMF

The Unsatisfied should be playing arena’s all across the USA rocking your town to the max. This album should do just that for them as it once again solidifies their pure Rock and Roll Punk rock pedigree. If real Rock is making a comeback, The Unsatisfied can help lead the way with this new record. They spit out Rock anthems that aren’t cheesy but full of ROCK feeling from the gut.

From the opening track of ” Rupture” to the following ” Blasphemers”, the music is goddamned grand big punk rock.  If Jerry Lee Lewis were a punker he would be in The Unsatisfied. The Unsatisfied ain’t practicing, this is serious shit people, real rock for real rock fans. Why these guys aren’t playing to the masses is a question I’ve been asking for years. This is The Unsatisfied’s masterpiece for sure. A culmination of luv, blood, rock, punk, glam, “Songs the Belt Taught Us” is one of those rare records you put on from song one to the end track and it ROCKS. No filler, just killer songs from beginning to end.

The Luvin‘” sounds like a ready made hit that doesn’t compromise coolness for hooks. Once you hear it you will be hooked. “Into the Gash” will make you wanna turn up the volume, crawl into bed and….well, you get the point, or you will once you hear it. “The Kids are Forever” just keeps the flow rolling and by now you will be wanting a shot of something good and the urge to turn it up will over take you. “Wives” is ‘motherfuckin’ violent’ and awesome. “Morbius” slows down (just a little) to bring you into the versatility and depth of The Unsatisfied, proving that a song doesn’t have to be a certain BPM to rock hard. “Ten Inch Waist” mixes genius songwriting and musicianship that will make you the listener wondering like I do, why aren’t these guys playing arena’s with their songs blasting out of FM and Sirius radios everywhere. (we are going to change that and make it happen). “She’ll Kiss the Fire” continues the Rock and Punk onslaught. Eric’s vocals are chilling, the bands music like a good gut punch.”Apocalypse of Joan” comes in well, apocalyptic. The final track “Blackie no tomorrow” will leave you wanting MORE!!. So lets get some more. Go see The Unsatisfied play live, go buy this record and all the ones they put out before this one, call your radio station and demand they play them, post about them on your social networking sites, tell your friends and play it LOUD. “Songs the Belt Taught Us” will not disappoint.

This review comes from the GUT, from my second listen of the CD. More ‘feelings’ will follow in an update to this review, as I can’t even put into words the great feeling I get hearing it.

I’ve been a Rock fan every since I found a pile of 45’s in my parents basement. I can remember sitting and listening to every word and sound come out of that old Zenith console, reading every liner note of each album I would listen to. Every since then, I always dreamed that one day I would see my name in the ‘thank you’s’ that bands would included on the record sleeves. The Unsatisfied made that little dream a reality with this album’s thank you notes, thanking me personally. Wow. Thanks guys. I wanna go on tour now. I feel proud to be a part of these guys tribe. If you are a real rock fan or a concert promoter or just someone looking for something new and original, get your hands on a copy of this disc and turn it up to 11. You will be glad you did.

Bigfoot

Bigfoot and others that opened for Nashville Pussy in Atlanta on 1/27/2011. All the “others” email me and get me some names to put on this page.

8/16/20 The “others” apparently never got in touch with BMF but I found the photos and did a little research. The “Nashville Pussy’s Winter Hoedown” was held in “Hell” at the Masquerade in Atlanta, GA on January 27, 2011 and featured Bigfoot, Stone Mountain Freeway, Six Shot Revival and of course the one and only Nashville Pussy. I also found out during this restoration marathon that Artimus Pyledriver broke up a long time back and the lead singer went to Stone Mountain Freeway.  Is that the way it went? This guy has voice. This is all coming back to me now. And 57s are falling all over me. BMF did not write a review of these bands at this show because our main goal was Nashville Pussy. But based on his review of their show it seems he picked Bigfoot as his next favorite – something to do with Evil Jim? [svgallery name=”npopeners2011″](old) ~mc~ #57bmf4ever

Great Music

Last week I made a mix cd for my truck with 15 random tracks. While i have enjoyed all tracks, one in particular I play over and over. Track 9, Saint Vitis – White Magic Black Magic, which I originally discovered in the 80’s from a free comp cassette from SST records that I ordered from the back of a magazine. I bring this up because this morning while driving to the grocery store and cueing up that song, I felt an overwhelming feeling of happiness to be hearing this great great song. So on the way back, feeling this feeling of euphoria from the booming dooming effects of White Magic/Black Magic, I decided it was time to listen to a late Christmas gift to my honey, an 180 gram pressing of Robert Plants newest disc “Band of Joy” Listening to side 3 right now, I am reminded of how important great music is in my life. The bonus is I am enjoying it fully with my honey, and the bonus of the bonus is that we will be seeing Robert play live next month. How lucky I am in life to spend it with someone whom I love so deeply and to have known such great music and had someone to enjoy it with.

The Unsatisfied Rocks BMF’s Birthday Bash 2010

The Unsatisfied BMF Birthday Bash Photo gallery here. More photos coming as I find them. Movies coming too. If you have any photos or movies of this show please send them to me.

From the beginning, we have been huge fans and followers of The Unsatisfied. Read some history over here. Me and Miss Chicky decided we would have a big birthday bash this year and host it in our backyard. Only thing we had to do was to get the back yard party ready. After months of busting our asses, we completed the backyard, got party ready, and it was on. As I told a few people, that prior to the party, I was getting so tired that I was having thoughts of just getting the party over with. When the Unsatisfied arrived my spirit was renewed with rock excitement. They set up on our carefully planned dual deck/stage and to say they rocked the house would be an understatement. I had a lot of friends at the party that would not be considered ‘rock’ fans of this type by any means. The day after the show, and talking to many of the guests, they all said, “that band was fucking awesome!!”. This was from what I would call non fans before and gained fans as of today. We are and were obviously already huge fans of The Unsatisfied, and even bigger fans after the party. The band put on two sets. One electrified spectacle of pure punk rock even playing a cover of a song I requested (hoped) they would learn and play and to say the learned it and played it would not do what they did to the song justice. “No Values” originally by Black Flag, covered by many but my favorite cover coming from Hank3 on the ‘West Memphis3’ benefit album put out by Henry Rollins. The Unsatisfied ripped into this song like they fucking owned it and it was most definitely  a highlight for me. Miss Chicky swears they should add this song to their set list and let others enjoy it too. I agree wholeheartedly.

After this raucous set of blistering rock in my back yard, they took a break and came back to do an amazing acoustical set that really worked. A highlight, “When a man comes around”….wow….Eric you sounded amazing and the band played it right as right.

I had a great time watching and listening to the band, but also had a great time joining in on a couple of things I knew one or two lines too, talking with the guys, helping look up lyrics with Wayno and showing Eric some of my treasures as he was patiently showing interest itching to hit the road. You all rock in my book.

So there is the beginning of my post of the Unsatisfied playing at my birthday party. Keep checking back as I will be adding thoughts and memories of things as I think of them. Be sure the check out all the Tumblrs, and other sites we run for other stuff throughout the next few weeks.

Thanks guys for making this birthday a memory of a lifetime. I say we make it once a year, same date, same time every year.

Look for a new release from The Unsatisfied to be reviewed on MusicFilter very shorty..hint hint.
