Virus Nine signs with Sailor’s Grave Records

This from SG’s site:

Established in 1996, VIRUS NINE is a five piece street-punk rock n’ roll band straight out of Medford, Oregon. The band self-produced their first two full-length DIY albums (one featuring guest vocals by Jesse Luscious of Blatz / Criminals) and put out a 7″ on Mental Records. 2005 saw two more full-lengths, What Are You Afraid Of and Blastin’ Away (the latter produced by the Master of Disaster, Duane Peters), both released by A-F Records.

After years of crisscrossing the country, Virus Nine has more than proven their worth, playing over 500 shows with the likes of Anti-Flag, Against All Authority, Endless Struggle and The Lower Class Brats, as well as the Holidays in the Sun Festival and Warped Tour. Now, Virus Nine has teamed up with SAILOR’S GRAVE RECORDS to keep the momentum going. Look for their SGR debut, We Came To Wreck Everything, to drop in late 2006.

Rock and Roll Soldiers with Buckcherry

We went to see Buchcherry at the Masquerade last Saturday night (April 29th, 2006). We didn’t leave till about 9 so when we got there we caught the end of the Rock and Roll Soldiers set. They were kicking some ass. The band looks young, pissed off, play like there is no tomorrow. On the last song the guitar player passed his guitar into the audience and then the drummers bass drum was passed throughout the crowd as well. Real cool Rock and Roll stuff. We bought their CD which from what I can gather is two EP’s on one disc based on the two songs we heard.

The CD titled “The Two EP’s” (see how I came up with that before?) is a great suprise of hard energetic rock played just like we like it. I would talk about standout songs here but honestly I like everyone of them. Get this CD, PLAY IT FUCKING LOUD and rejoice that Rock and Roll is alive and kicking. And if you didn’t figure it out by now they rule live as well and I can say that confidently after only seeing them play two songs.

Buckcherry kicked ass too.

The Ducky Boys – The War Back Home

I recently got this CD along with a small stack of others and today I randomly stuck The Ducky Boys in the MusicFilter Jukebox to give it a listen. I already know I’m the luckiest motherfucker on this earth but this random selection was a good choice. This three piece band from Boston quickly caught me good ear with a basic straight ahead approach to ROCK. Punk rock, Rock, whatever, they fucking rock from the first track “Celebrate”. Their bio on Sailors Grave paints a clear picture of this band, singing about life, love, living and dying. The best part is they come across very true without the usual bullshit involved when a band claims they sing about life and love.

It has been a while since I heard a band come across so true to ROCK and FUCKING ROLL. These guys should be on the radio…too bad radio sucks balls. (Duane you and I should start a pirate radio station online. I’ll help you choose the music. We could take over the world.)

The track “This time last year” is a very cool slower tempo song that actually doesn’t suck just because it is bit slower than the other tracks. Cool Voice and cool words.

However…the best track on this cd in my HUMBLE opinion is “Contrived and Treacherous”. I’m not sure of the meaning but the words are very very cool.

Contrived & Treacherous:

Contrived and Treacherous…You can live the life you choose
Contrived and Treacherous…Don’t subject us to your views

I remember when you kissed our asses back then
Now you deny it just to show off to your friends……

Go buy the album for the rest of the song and hear this awesome disc in full. Go to Sailor’s Grave Records to buy it.

Go ahead punk…I say get this one, you won’t be disappointed.

David Lee Roth off the air

I’m not sure of the whole story yet but it is official, Dave has been booted from CBS. Dave says he was ‘booted and tossed and someone will pay’. He reportedly heard the news on the way to the studio this morning on his cell phone. Apparently CBS will replace Dave with shock jocks Opie & Anthony creating the first ever sattelite to sydication deal. Opie & Anthony used to be on CBS until they were fired and went to XM radio. Stern commented plenty of times saying that a radio show is not made in 30 days or even a year. Stern made his way the same way Dave was trying to do back when radio still had credibility before Clear Channel took over. Stern made fun of Opie and Anthony and had a rivarly with them when he was with CBS. I bet money that Dave will end up on Sterns show at LEAST as a guest in the future.

Update: 4/22

Dave wasn’t in too bad of a mood from his departure. Read more here about how he made a suprise appearance at a private party and sang with the house band.
