MTV.com talked to Rob Zombie about the upcoming album Educated Horses…
“Before Ozzfest, I didn’t have any plans to tour again at all. I was sort of sick of it, truthfully. Everything with my last band started to turn ugly and it wasn’t that fun,” he explained. “With the new band, I just had such a good time that really, as corny as it sounds, it seemed like the old days, we’re having a band, we’re playing and it’s just fun. Once being in a band turns stressful, you go, ‘What the f— am I doing?’ It was really fun, and we came off the tour and started making a record and it just clicked. The record … we were like, ‘These are the best songs ever. It would be stupid not to finish it.”
Back in October, Zombie and the band entered Los Angeles’ Chop Shop Studios to write and record the follow-up to 2001’s The Sinister Urge; Zombie co-produced the album with Scott Humphrey. On Friday, the guys put the finishing touches on the LP, called Educated Horses. Zombie said the disc will include 11 tracks including an acoustic number called “Death of It All,” “Seventeen Year Locusts” and the album’s first single, “Foxy, Foxy” and should land in stores on March 28.
sHEAVY is the SHIT. I somehow came across this incredible advance of REPUBLIC?, the upcoming release of the band that if Ozzys wife had any balls would have headlining every Ozzfest from here on out bmfgroupie shared sHEAVY with me 2 or 3 years ago and from the first time we listened to them we loved them. Forget the generalization of Stoner Rock these guys re-define it. I can’t help but begin this rant without praising the incredible sound that Steve Hennesy emits from the mic. What we have here is an equivalent of Ozzy that can actually sing and change tones with ease that is not to any way diss the ozzy I’ve seen him lots and he can fucking sing the ozzy way. ozzy is in a category by himself..nobody will ever sound lke ozzy but..Steve Hennesy has a different TONE..i don’t know shit about playing instruments or writing music but to me.he has a different tone..all the while Steve is belting out grab-at-yer-gut sounds the band is chugging right along with him at train track feeling The whole time I’ve been typing this dribble..the first 3 songs have played all of which inspired all this dribble. The fourth song, Moments is THE PERFECT HALLOWEEN PARTY Song full of strong mixed drinks, heavy tokes and an ending that will make you literally move your body slowly towards the speakers eagerly anticipating the next note played. Song 5 is driving hard fuckin. Song six,”phone booth” is eeeeeerrriieee..dont mix that out of the final guysgreat little thingy there.song 7, œspyheeeeeeaaaaaavyyyyyyyyy perfect head song bmfgroupie said she could suck all the way through but I think she needs to listen to it more..but even for the first listen she sucked it mighty good Stingray 16follows with more of the same..not the same same but the distinct sound that follows these guys these guys pull this music from within somewhere.its too fucking trippy to not come from somewhere elseThe MAN ends this amazing CD.original strange guitar/bass sounds come through and grab you then the heavy fucking guitar/bass beat comes through and drives the song through the structure very cool .every song Steve and the band have a gem on their hands get this CD!!!..go see sHEAVY online
BBQ – Tie Your Noose is full of very unique music built on original music translated from a one man band Mark Sultan. His latest CD is put out by BOMP!. This guy has to have some eclectic tastes in music. Whatever the influence, you can certainly pick out a considerable wide range of music genres and artists on your own when you hear BBQ belting out his music and words. On our first listen these words came out of our mouths: “Buddy Holly, Rock & Roll, Old Rock & Roll, Blues, I wish he could be our house band, DAMN!, Punk rock baby, you know it’s good when you feel in between your thighs!” Mark Sultan is a one man band that plays everything with severe passion.
BBQ or Mark Sultan has fronted a couple of other bands that I haven’t heard of but now I’ll have to go search it out. I followed the link inside the CD cover to his website and found my way to the new MarkSultan.com blog type site which is cool. BBQ’s music rules all but at a close second for me is the fact that BBQ has lots of full sized MP3’s you can download. That is Rock & Roll baby. Get the music out there. If it is good people will buy. I will definatley buy. How did we miss him when he came to Atlanta back in January? Hopefully he will find his way back in the future.
If you’ve visited us here before you know there is no filler here at MusicFilter.com just music that moves ya, and I can attest that BBQ will move ya!. Go get it you won’t regret it.
8/4/19 ~mc~ I love how one thing leads to another in this maze of BMF content. After discovering the Tumblr Audio Parser for MusicFilter Tumblr, I had to check out the same for Whatever Happened to Rock & Roll Tumblr and found another treasure chest of BMF curated music. Sometimes the links on the Tumblr are dead after so many years, but usually there is enough information to find the song. So the very last song link on page 10 of the list is broken but it says Take a message… YES! I know this song because he played this song a lot and I like this song and my mission was to find it again and fix the broken link. BMF also left the following on the post:24 June 2009 • mark sultainmark sultanbbq
This does not seem like 10 years ago but time is shorter than you can ever imagine. I happen to know BBQ is a BMF favorite. But this song was not BBQ. We now know this song is by Mind Controls, another Mark Sultan band. And while I could not find it on Tumblr, I found it on You Tube! Who knows how long it would have taken me to update this post had I not come across this situation tonight? Love to love you baby! #57bmf4ever
The Kills – “Keep On Your Mean Side” I just brought this album to Miss Chicky who looked over at me and said, “This music is made for us”. My first impressions: raw, simple, sexy, hard, soft, cool, original, and we’re only on track five.

This is definitely one of the best albums I’ve heard so far this year. It’s unusual to like every track on an album but this one passes that test. I especially like “Superstition” and “Fried My Little Brains”. The Kills at the Magic Stick in Detroit on April 29, 2003. I hope they show up in Atlanta.
My first impressions stand after listening to the CD a few more times. It only gets better each listen. Very sexy and very raw. This is music you can definately feel in your guts.

Although they take their name from a Nuge song and use a Confederate flag in their imagery, The Pussy’s politics ain’t god, guns, and gay-bashin’– they run both red and blue. In fact, on the band’s fifth album From Hell to Texas (SPV), they assail religion on “Lazy Jesus” (“God’s just a king with a lot less money”) and bash “The Late, Great USA.” “We walk the line,” Suys says. “The party we vote for is
the Party party.” The song, she continues, is about returning home from Europe to notice the little differences between here and there. “Some of the freedoms over there are different… like, you know, hash and nice, state-sponsored hookers.Then you come back to America, land of supposed freedom, and you’re not allowed to smoke 50 feet in front of a building and shit. It’s like, ‘What the fuck?”{read more}
