David Lee Roth off the air
I’m not sure of the whole story yet but it is official, Dave has been booted from CBS. Dave says he was ‘booted and tossed and someone will pay’. He reportedly heard the news on the way to the studio this morning on his cell phone. Apparently CBS will replace Dave with shock jocks Opie & Anthony creating the first ever sattelite to sydication deal. Opie & Anthony used to be on CBS until they were fired and went to XM radio. Stern commented plenty of times saying that a radio show is not made in 30 days or even a year. Stern made his way the same way Dave was trying to do back when radio still had credibility before Clear Channel took over. Stern made fun of Opie and Anthony and had a rivarly with them when he was with CBS. I bet money that Dave will end up on Sterns show at LEAST as a guest in the future.
Update: 4/22
Dave wasn’t in too bad of a mood from his departure. Read more here about how he made a suprise appearance at a private party and sang with the house band.
Diamond Dave coming to an end?
Are Dave’s days numbered as a DJ?
President Bush has illegal music on his iPod
According to this video in which the president talks about what is on his iPod..he has songs that are not available on iTunes as a legal download (the Beatles) so it must be ripped music which the RIAA deemed illegal last February.
The Mighty Rock and Roll Hall of lies
For $29.95 you can purchase the latest Rock & Roll Hall Fame Museum Guide Book. In it you will find the following:
July 1976
“The Ramones perform at The Roundhouse in London. They are approached by future members of The Clash, Pretenders, Damned and Sex Pistols, and asked how to form a band.”
This is what John Lydon had to say:
“… the very night The Ramones were at this Roundhouse thing, I was actually playing a live gig at Sheffield, alright, the Sex Pistols were already up and at it mate, so it’s historically incorrect. It’s a lie.”
This is on Lydon’s website:
On July 4th 1976 the Sex Pistols (and The Clash) played the Black Swan, Sheffield. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are blatantly re-writing history. How can the Sex Pistols have anything to do with lies like that? Of course, we know better, but thousands of visitors to that museum are being mislead. And it’s just not good enough.
What happened at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Contrary to some reports, the only time the Pistols got a mention was when Jann Wenner from Rolling Stone read the letter the Pistols released upon hearing of their induction. He went on to say that if the band wanted to pick up their award statues they would be at the museum waiting on them and if they wanted to smash them it was up to them. The only other mention of the band came when Blondie played the intro to God Save the Queen.
