Duane Peters must of changed his mind to who was gonna release the US Bombs next album. A while ago if you went to Disaster’s website, they had a link to “Thorp” records and now there is a link to “Sailor’s Grave” records even though their site is not officially up and running yet. Wonder whats goin’ on?
Follow up: 2/17/06. Duh….Sailor’s Grave is an offshoot of Thorp.
Finally something worth a crap to listen to…The Love Drunks(Disaster Records/Bomp Records)hail from Atlanta, GA. I vaguely remember seeing their name in the back of Creative Loafing playing around town but didn’t know much about them. The Cd opens with a jolt to yer soul called “Sketch” which keeps your toes tappin’ all throughout…In fact every song on this Cd will keep your toes tappin’ and yer heart racin’ with thoughts of Rock & Roll from the gut.
Prick Magazine(nope – see below) had this to say “…with frontman Patrick A. prancing around like a cross between Lux Interior, Iggy Pop and Mick Jagger on speed.” How can you not want to go see that? When I first read they had a stand up bass player I was a bit put off until I gave it a listen… unlike other bands with stand up basses, Chris “Koby” Downs plays it so it complements the punk rock feel the band puts forth. Awesome stuff here. Great guitar, great singing, great drums, great fucking sound. I’m actually listening to this as I write this review and I’m more impressed with each song. This is one of the CD’s that is good from track one to the last track and only grows in strength as it plays.
This CD has a permanent spot in the MusicFilter Jukebox and I look forward to seeing these guys tear it up live.~restored and updated 8.8.17 by ~mc~
Original photos of the Evils originally on “Whatever Happened to Rock and Roll”. Taken from shows on 12/6/2002, 12/31/2002(actually 2001), 3/1/2002, and 8/24/2002.
The Evils were one of the first local Atlanta bands we saw often in clubs. I don’t know all the guys but see them often. They play fierce balls out rock that is like a wall of sound. We usually see the band play at 9 Lives Saloon but once caught them at the Masquerade and they sounded fucking awesome. Not that they aren’t kick ass at 9 Lives Saloon but at the bigger venue they seemed most at home and they sounded much better than usual in my opinion.

I’ve since seen a ton of local Atlanta bands and I have to say that the Evils personify the true Rock & Roll attitude that a lot of bands today couldn’t even think of if they were payed to do so….Jett is in your face and on it 100% every time he plays and Evil Jim is the ruler of all bloody handed guitar players…..come back guys…We/Atlanta needs you.

8/3/19 ~mc~ Above is the original post BMF made to MusicFilter after the redesign in 2006. I have tried to find all the photos and movies that he took of The Evils in 2002 in the servers of musicfilter, in the tumblrs and in the archives of wayback. I found a few but not all. I have posted those below. I will have to turn to one of the computers he was using in 2002(we kept all our computers except his original that he gave to Todd). He always used a desktop. đ I’m fairly certain they will be stored there, but that will be for another day when I can get it out of storage. So hope is still alive! The reason this is a big deal is first I just want to restore single thing possible for myself and second is because in 2002 there were not a lot of photos of bands because this was before cell phones had photos and a person would have to bring an actual camera to a show which could sometimes be awkward and weird, but BMF didn’t give a fuck. He just wanted to collect photos and movie clips. #57bmf4ever

In celebration of BMF’s birthday on August 5 and the just announced 20th anniversary show including The Evils, The Unsatisfied and The El Caminos it’s time to archive and update this page originally created by BMF who loved all of these bands and supported them for all of his time left on earth. Happy Birthday BMF! You are missed like crazy! #57bmf4ever ~mc
Nashville Pussy brought us The Evils. The Evils brought us The Unsatisfied and we wallowed in their Rock and Roll. BMF and WHTRR supported the Evils and they in turn supported BMF.
The Evils
I’ve seen the Evils play before with Nashville Pussy at the Echo Lounge. Last night at the 9 Lives Saloon their hard style hadn’t changed a bit. Their name, their logo, their style oozes rock and roll. Real rock that grabs you by the throat, holds on tight, and blasts right into your eyeballs. When I think of The Evils, I think of bourbon and coke, Winston’s, and a bike that’s as fast as it is loud. These guys are great and they play great. Go see them every and any chance you get. Check out their cool website too.(2/4/2002)

The Unsatisfied is a band we first saw opening for TheEvils at 9 Lives Saloon a while back. Jet told me before the show that I would really like the band opening up for them and the lead singer was a âcrazymotherfucker!â. We were about to find out just how crazy. The band started playing and up walks(on crutches)this lanky dude. He was all over the stage, hoppinâ all around on one leg, and belting out some of the best vocals I had heard in a long time. To top all that off this guy had a stage presence that demanded your complete attention. Talent was the first word that came to mind at the time. The band literally chugged out the music song after song. Afterwards we got to meet the lead singer extraordinaire and the rest of the band. Eric is a super nice guy and from our first conversation it was clear to me this guy was on another level. We will not miss show one these guys are playing in the future. If you miss seeing them live youâll be missing a great show and great band that has got nothing but great things ahead of them. EnoughâŠ.now go listen to White Trash. I think I like the rougher Evil Jim remix of âWhite Trashâ as well. Level: 9

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs rock ass….they became an instant favorite of ours just for the song “Our Time” which rules, but after seeing them play live they are truly a standout in MusicFilters BandFilter List.
