What’s New at MusicFilter

All work and less play has kept me off MusicFilter for a while now. The adjustment continues to get better as time passes. I’ve had lots of new toys to play with since I was on here last. Each time I get on this new computer I find new and fun things to play with. Today I bought some DVD’s and Blu-Ray discs to burn some cam movies onto. While I have yet to find any software that will actually burn a Blu-Ray I guess the point is the capacity itself.

On the music scene:
Duane Peters has launched a new record label called “Indian Recordings” in which he plans to put out the new Duane Peters Gunfight record next month. He is also working on a new Old Skars & Upstarts record which will be full of cool new music as usual.

We are going to see Lucinda Williams at the Tabernacle in February. She has a really cool cover of AC/DC’s “It’s a long way to the top” on her new record. We have always been partial to Lucinda.

The Bad Brains are playing Atlanta soon. I’ll be glad when DP Gunfight releases their new record. The Coke Bandits are still ripping it up from time to time.

MC left for a while and I wish I had gone with her now.

Compound Radio

I just discovered this cool online radio show “Compound Radio“. They play cool music. That is it. Nothing more or less. Duane and Corey both have shows. Listen with iTunes here. Very cool indeed.

4/14/18 ~mc update ~ as I was updating the dead links I discovered Compound Radio must have changed its format as I’m pretty sure BMF would not be listening to it now. Maybe that’s why he removed it from his link list. But it does explain the Compound Radio t-shirt I found with his other shirts. But if you search you can find some golden punk nuggets:

Corey Parks Interview and a Nashville Pussy opener “High As Hell” (2013 – this is a very worthy listen)

Duane Peters and Die Hunns – on a pretty good punk rock show – lots of good music here.

Listen to “Cheers” a track off of “We are the Problem”.

Sailor’s Grave Records – US Bombs – We are the Problem

Self described as a record company created to give birth to the soundtracks of life lived by those black eyes, bad luck, and bad tattoos. Shunning the veneer of pop punk and emo, Sailor’s Grave Records will be devoted to the genres of street punk and bad ass Rock & Roll. Look for new releases in 2006 from US Bombs, The Generators, Angel City Outcasts, Kings of Nuthin’, The Ducky Boys, Far from Finished, Mark Lind, The Welch Boys andmore.

The US Bombs new release “We are the Problem” will be out April 4th, but there is a link to buy the cd here. In the meantime you can download “Locked in my Skin” and buy the new 7″. The band will tour May 15th to June 12th. Hope they come around here but I doubt it. (oh but they sure as fuck did! – updated on 1/31/17)
