8/16/20 I almost forgot Elvis’ death day. Continue to RIP King. I just had to add some extra to BMF’s post here. I’m surprised this was all he had because we were infatuated with The Bellrays for a long time. We downloaded “Kill the Messenger”. The lead singer has Tina Turner vibes. The Bellrays appear on BMF’s 2002 band link list from WHTRR. They traveled the country with Nashville Pussy. We saw them play at Echo Lounge in April of 2003. See BMF’s review and photos of the show.
The lyrics turn out to be poignant for our present situation. I miss you. I love you. ~mc~ #57bmf4ever
I feel alone
I feel dead
I got a pain in my heart going straight to my head
I don’t care
What you say
I was born one time and I’m dying every day.
I wanna kill the messanger of sadness.
The man who makes it rain.
Spill the wine
Something for nothing
It’s all that you can gain.
I feel confused.
I feel lost.
I feel like the world wants to put me under.
Blues for Godzilla (I’m a monster with a fever just like a killer with a gun!)
US Bombs – We are the Problem
The US Bombs are back with a vengence on Sailor’s Grave Records with a new disc worthy of the top “MUST HAVE ALBUMS” on MusicFilter. Every song is a keeper. Read the review here.
The Unsatisfied – 7 inch Rock Scar
This album is fucking incredible. I’m too high to get too deep right this second but if you go to the link you can read more.
Die Hunns – Long Legs
Legendary skater/punk rock motherfucker Duane Peters punk band now has Corey Parks (ex Nashville Pussy fire breather) in it and they re-did some old Hunns tunes plus some new stuff on this recent release. This is one album that gets better every time you listen. Their cover of “Time has come today” is a standout with Corey on lead vocals with Duane coming in mid way through with his gnarling, snarling voice turning this song into a punk rock gem.
Old Skars & Upstarts 2004 I’ve had this CD for about a month now and when I first listened to it a few tracks struck me as awesome. I stuck the CD in my car and have been listening to it now everyday pretty much. Each time I like each song a bit more. From what I understand Duane Peters puts these comps together himself and if that is the case this guy has got an ear for music like no other. EVERY SINGLE FUCKING SONG is a great song but for me personally The District – No Heart is my favorite as of today. Each day I listen, I have a new favorite and now they are all my faves. And why can’t I find any info on this band? The search will continue as it will for every band on this CD. They all kick ass in their own unique way. I was determined to keep my list of 25 albums everyone should own to just that…..25, but everytime I climb into my car to fight the dumbasses on the highways I have finally convinced myself that this CD belongs in the top 10 best comps I’ve ever heard. This is exactly what I hope MusicFilter can put together one day. A comp CD that is good from song one to the last track and only bands and songs that I like. Duane you inspire in ways you may not even realize.
Nashville Pussy – Let Them Eat Pussy
This album has been a favorite if not my all time favorite since the time I got it. Loud, Sexy, & Rough, they exude what Rock & Roll was meant to sound and look like.
Sex Pistols – Never Mind the Bollocks
Johnny & the boys shook shit up on a new level that really hasn’t been met in terms of intense influence since. It rocks from start to end. Ever wonder what punk rock is all about?…one listen to this will answer all questions.
Black Flag – Who’s got the 10 1/2″?
Live in some little shit town it some little shit club Henry and company show why they are considered by some to be the seminal punk rock motherfuckers.
New York Dolls
One of the few albums that exists that is great from track one to the last track. Sleazy punky.
Ted Nugent – Double Live Gonzo
The first time I heard Wango Tango, I then understood what Rock & Roll was all about. Ted is all about Sex, Sex and Rock & Roll the way it is supposed to be played. Loud and intense, its easy to see why Nashville Pussy would name their band after one Ted song.
Marilyn Manson – Smells Like Children
Just when he had the everyone freaked, he freaked em’ a step beyond. The cover of Rock & Roll Nigger alone is worth the price of this CD. Strange, hard and pure Marilyn.
Nirvana – Hormoning
Don’t wanna listen to Nevermind? Get this EP and hear why Kurt is considered a god by some.
Aerosmith – Rocks
Cocaine, cocaine and more cocaine. The boys in Aerosmith may be livin’ clean now days but back in the day, they were havin’ LOTS of fun. Start to finish this album ROCKS.
The Flaming Lips – Oh My Gawd/With You(Tie)
Before they got overly experimental, they were just plain weird. But they played hard loud guitars and vocals that flowed together unlike anything you had heard before. Either one will make you happy in an acid kind of way. Oh My Gawd spawned an awesome acid
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Uplift Mojo Party Plan
Before they started writing pussy songs for the radio they actually played hard funk like punks and punk like funk in a way that made yer mojo uplift and make ya want to create a party plan. This is HARD funk at its finest. Too bad they lost their Mojo.
The Pixies – Surfer Rosa
An elegant topless chic on the cover, but nothing elegant about the songs. Hard, gritty, and yet mellow, they exude punk attitude with this one. “Bloody your hand on a cactus tree, wipe it on your dress and send it to me”…………how can you argue with words like that?
Suicidal Tendencies
Young Mike wrote some amazingly cool and shocking songs on this one. “Institutionalized” is the best teen angst anthem of all anthems put together. So-Cal punk rock at its best.
Bad Brains – I against I
Rasta hard core unlike any. The intensity and speed of this CD is often copied but never like the original. Amazing vocals and amazing guitars and amazing songs and even more amazing intensity make this one of my all time faves.
Natural Born Killers – Soundtrack
Never thought I’d put a soundtrack on a list of must have music, but this one changed my mind. Put together by Perry of Janes Addiction, the songs meld together like they were wrote to be layed out this way.
We Will Fall – Tribute to Iggy Pop
I like tribute albums. This one stands out. Way way out. Joey Ramone doing “1969”, Kenny Kaye doing “We will fall”, this CD is a must for any Iggy fan or punk fan alike. Get this album. It belongs in any punk/rock collection.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Master
This EP will make you rethink what it takes to make a Rock & Roll album. See them live and walk away a changed person.
Soundgarden – Ultra-Mega OK
Before grunge became cool, Soundgarden were ultra cool. I never understood why Chris never used the vocal range he showed on this album on any releases after this. Listen to “Beyond the Wheel” and get ready to be amazed.
~restored the album photos on 8/13/17 _ still updating the links~mc~
+| Drugs: Why not fill yourself with something that can give you a fake sense of security, confidence, or superiority? I mean as long as you are happy, who cares what other people think? Remember, it is all in your mind. No matter what they say, where they lock you up, in the end it will be your fault, and your fault only. If you are winning in your mind, you could be burning to death with maggots eating at your skin, and you could still feel as if you’ve accomplished something. Get a drug habit and die.

The Coffin Lids ‘Round Midnight’ is the newest release from The Coffin Lids hailing from Boston. “Walk a mile in my shoes” clocks in with buzzing guitars and vocals that make you believe these guys have walked many a Rock and Roll mile. I can picture seeing these guys playing live with every member pausing between songs to take a sip of whiskey only to drive into the next song harder and louder. They sound Rock & Roll and they are Rock & Roll. Track eight, “Action” has some great sounding vocals and a beat that keeps you guessing what comes next. “Kick out of you” reminds me of the Stooges for some reason. “She’s the Bomb” has a really cool driving beat that makes me wanna do just that..drive fast. “Creepy Crawl” has the band giving there own version of a sing along dance along song done with the cool sound that creeps out of each song on this disc. [more inside]
‘Round Midnight‘ is the newest release from The Coffin Lids hailing from Boston. This is the first time I’ve heard the band and I really like what I hear. “Walk a mile in my shoes” clocks in with buzzing guitars and vocals that make you believe these guys have walked many a fucking mile. I can picture seeing these guys in a garage type venue with every member pausing between songs to take a sip of whiskey only to drive into the next song harder and louder. They sound Rock & Roll and they are Rock & Roll. Track eight, “Action” has some great sounding vocals and a beat that keeps you guessing what comes next. I really hope these guys come to Atlanta to play there own brand of sleazy Rock & Roll. “Kick out of you” reminds me of the Stooges for some reason. “She’s the Bomb” has a really cool driving beat that makes me wanna do just that…drive…fast. “Creepy Crawl” has the band giving there own version of a sing along dance along song done with the cool sound that creeps out of each song on this disc. The last track on this disc “Tonight you’re gonna die in my garage” reminds me a bit of The Ruiners. What ever happened to those guys anyway? The Coffin Lids have proven their bad ass rock music to me with this disc. I will not only go see them live if they come around Atlanta but I’ll eagerly await each release they put out.
Bomp records has just released this disc which is a re-release of the 180gram record from 1980 featuring exclusive liner notes and some extra tracks. “The Hipstrz – Live at the Longhorn” is unlike a lot of “live” albums you hear in that it actually sounds live. If you’re having a party and want to throw on a disc that will last for more than a few minutes this is for you. With 37 tracks consisting of some covers and originals this may be the perfect party record. Punk-a-fied garage rock is exactly right.
Nashville Pussy have been forced to cancel their tour due to an accident in Wyoming in which thier van rolled over and damaged not only the van but the bands equipment as well. They hope to reschedule in feb.
Bomp records weekly update has lots of new goodies for you obscure music fans…such as….
ADOLESCENTS Complete Demos 1980-1986 Special packaging just for the band to sell on the road! Not available in stores. The cover and LP labels are black and white instead of black and red. Each LP jacket is hand-numbered, no bar code, opaque green marble color, re-sealable poly sleeves instead of shrink-wrap.The entire production run of this special edition is limited to 2000 LP $14
The White Stripes have come up with a pretty cool idea. They record a song a night on their UK tour and then make it available for download to the people who actually saw the show along with artwork specific to that show and a free CD-R as well.
The Germs tore up the stage at the L.A. “Waking the Dead” show last saturday night. They shared the stage with Fear, Flipper and the Suicidal Tendencies. Shane West who was once on TV’s ‘ER’ took the stage and did Darby Crash justice just as many speculate he will do when he plays Darby in the new movie “What we do is Secret“. Some are saying that the band will actually tour with West fronting the band which features original guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Lorna Doom and drummer Don Bolles.
LA hosted a classic punk rock show last saturday night with the Suicidal Tendencies, Flipper, Fear and the Germs taking the stage showing that punk rock is far from dead. Police had to shut down the streets outside the venue after the show to prevent rioting. When Fear took the stage the crowd suddenly became vicious and stormed the stage. The Germs featured a suprise lead vocal by none other than Shane West of ER fame who coincidently is starring the the film “What we do is Secret” about the life and Darby Crash and the Germs.
Lemmy once said in an interview in the mid 80’s that a doctor told him that if he stopped taking amphetamines that the shock to his metabolism might kill him. He has also said that taking acid gives him a different perspective on writing songs. But he has always held true that he hates heroin. Lemmy accepted an invitation by Tory Welsh assembly member William Graham to address the assembly on drug abuse. The 59-year-old singer will give his talk on Thursday (Nov. 3) — before a gig in Cardiff.
“Frankly, young people are more likely to listen to him,” Graham told the BBC News.
Graham was prompted to contact Lemmy by his researcher after a recent Channel 4 documentary on the band, “Live Fast Die Old”, where he spoke about his hatred of heroin.
OK, just go grab your Roget’s Thesaurus and get 20 synonyms for each of the following: fierce, frantic, loud and slutty. Insert the 80 words here:

That’s all the record review you really need. Anything more would be academic, which is not in true Nashville Pussy form.
But I feel compelled to give more details. If these guys and gals didn’t grow up in the South, they have certainly done their research (I would know, being’s I been livin’ in ol’ Virginny since I was a young ‘un). Their music is essentially a buzzsaw fusion of punk and Southern rock, with a bit of a Motorhead vibe thrown in. Their sound is what I call “truck stop rock” (I hereby lay claim to that phrase and if a writer uses it as their own, call them on it). The lyrics are for the most part indecipherable, but when you can make them out, you find that all of the essentials are there – bikes, beer and broads.
Any band that records a song titled “Fried Chicken and Coffee” is going to instantly win my favor. The big surprise is the cover of Smokey Robinson’s “First I Look At the Purse,” the gigolo song that receives a new life thanks to Nashville Pussy. Smokey must be spinning in his grave. NP puts 110% into every song and that effort comes through your speakers as pure energy. This is one of those rare records that you can’t help but like and play air guitar to, even though you know it’s not the most intelligent or sensitive stuff out there. If you want a lesson in politics, go be bored with an Agnostic Front record – Nashville Pussy ain’t got no time for such matters. They’re too busy drinking Jack, fixin’ cars and eating fire (no kidding, see the live show).
We can make weed disappear right before your eyes.

Duane Peters has a movie about his bad self……Check out the trailer to the upcoming DVD release of “Who Cares…The Duane Peters Story” which is due out by the end of this summer. DUANE PETERS is a skateboarder with serious cred. He’s generally acknowledged as the guy who consumated the union of punk rock and skateboarding, taking it from a la-la cruise by nerdy longhairs whose music of choice was the Eagles into the full-blown tough guy hardcore punk scene it is today. Here is a cool tribute to his skateboarding ability here. Check out some way cool downloads of The Hunns here.
But skating is just part of the fun for Duane, his other avocation is punk rock; and he’s pretty good at that too. Duane is the leader of the infamous U.S. BOMBS, and since 2000 he has started fronting The HUNNS. The HUNNS sound is raw, chainsaw, based on a classic formula : two Les Pauls, drums and bass. Duane, of course, sounds like Duane, but that’s the main similarity with the Bombs : the HUNNS delivery is much more street American rock’n’roll. Now with the addition of ex-Nashville Pussy COREY PARKS on bass, The HUNNS have become one of the best punk band playing anywhere in the world today.

The U.S. Bombs re-release of “Put Strength in the Final Blow” which was originally released in 94′ as a vinyl only album, now on CD with all tracks remixed by Duane and now features 4 tracks from the double 7inch of which only 500 copies were originally pressed. The whole thing has been remastered and includes liner notes from Duane himself. Go here to read more and download Bubble Gum from the “Put Strength in the Final Blow” CD.
Although they take their name from a Nuge song and use a Confederate flag in their imagery, The Pussy’s politics ain’t god, guns, and gay-bashin’– they run both red and blue. In fact, on the band’s fifth album From Hell to Texas (SPV), they assail religion on “Lazy Jesus” (“God’s just a king with a lot less money”) and bash “The Late, Great USA.” “We walk the line,” Suys says. “The party we vote for is
the Party party.” The song, she continues, is about returning home from Europe to notice the little differences between here and there. “Some of the freedoms over there are different… like, you know, hash and nice, state-sponsored hookers.Then you come back to America, land of supposed freedom, and you’re not allowed to smoke 50 feet in front of a building and shit. It’s like, ‘What the fuck?”{read more}
