The Kings of Rock are back!

Van Halen is officially back. See some fan shot footage of “I’m the One” here.

10/7/20 – this post updated by ~mc~ . The guitar god Eddie Van Halen passed away yesterday at the age of 65 after a long battle with throat cancer. BMF’s teenage band was Van Halen and I need to get all his Van Halen posts updated pronto.

I’m not sure if BMF ever saw Van Halen in his younger days but we got to see them reunited with David Lee Roth in Atlanta in 2008 and in New York in 2012. According to the Van Halen 2007-2008 North American Tour Wikipedia, the first date of the tour on September 27, 2007 in Charlotte, NC was David Lee Roth’s first show with Van Halen since September 2, 1984. This made BMF very happy and this was his post about it in 2007.  Unfortunately the original video shot by a fan has been deleted by you tube.  #57bmf4ever

David Lee Roth Blog

Now you can look over each show on Dave’s new blog. Nope.

Ok here we go with this David Lee Roth person. Ha! I loved giving BMF crap about DLR. The blog is gone but he does have one hell of a cool blog now that’s pretty current. No telling how long it will last but it is great in design with lots of great graphics and photos. I’ll take a look. David Lee Roth’s current blog.

One good thing I’ll say about DLR is he and I have the same birthdate. 🙂 October 10, except he’s older than me.

Old Skars and Upstarts 505

Richard Hell…I really like a good crunchy sentence.

Old Skars 505

Old Skars and Upstarts 505 is the latest comp put together by the Master of Disaster Duane Peters. I own all of them and all of them rank in my top 10 all time best cd list. This new one, “the 505 edition” is no exception. It begins with the “Bad Lieutnants” doing ‘Arizona Love’ that kind of sets the pace for an in your face dose of punk rock from around the globe. The Hunns cover the classic VH track “Ain’t Talkin’ bout Love” and not only do it justice but actually make it better with Duane and Corey trading off on vocals throughout. AWESOME stuff! The Lizzies (feat. Corey) contribute “Baby Black and Blue”. I can’t wait to hear some more from this band. None of the bands on this cd disappoint. Instead they all give you a sense that punk rock is alive and well despite all the CRAP being thrown at everyone that is labeled “punk”. Mr. Peters knows good music period. Now, as if this incredible comp cd isn’t enough, he has organized a tour featuring a lot of the bands on this edition of Old Skars. [more inside]
