I Walk The Line
I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

I find it very, very easy to be true
I find myself alone when each day is through
Yes, I’ll admit that I’m a fool for you
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

As sure as night is dark and day is light
I keep you on my mind both day and night
And happiness I’ve known proves that it’s right
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

You’ve got a way to keep me on your side
You give me cause for love that I can’t hide
For you I know I’d even try to turn the tide
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
I keep my eyes wide open all the time
I keep the ends out for the tie that binds
Because you’re mine, I walk the line

John Lydon answered questions in a webchat with the Sun Online and as usual with anything he says it was very interesting. Included is his response to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When asked if he would play with the Pistols again he said “I could see a day when we played live together again – but only if it was in Japan and for plenty of filthy yen! My moral code isn’t that strict..”

David Lee Roth

December 17th, 2005 by BMF

December 16, 2005

Diamond Dave talks with the NY Times…in a hotel…its a great great preview as to what will come on “FREE FM”.

Here are some bits of the article:
“I think I’m the one single voice who has united the liberal left with the Nascar voting bloc,” he says of the audience for his music, which encompasses six multiplatinum Van Halen albums and eight solo releases. Different gig: Mr. Roth is just a few weeks from taking over what he describes as “the hottest seat in American radio,” Mr. Stern’s at WXRK-FM, a job for which he deems himself uniquely qualified: Sure he can sing, but as a conversationalist, just wait, he will knock your socks off.

“Come on, I can bond with a fire hydrant,” he says, explaining his faith in his conversational prowess. “I can interview a Dalmatian,” he adds. “It’s about the capacity to entertain, like at a really good Algonquin table. I’ve got a fourth-degree black belt in conversation; I think in bold caps!” Obviously.

HE is not, by the way, out to attempt anything so gauche as to replace Mr. Stern. “I’m not the new Howard,” Mr. Roth says. “Your editorial bias is entirely based on your memories, and I couldn’t think of more diverse backgrounds than between the two of us. The only thing I have distinctly in common with Howard is a wicked sense of humor. And Hanukkah.”

His 6-to-10-a.m. slot starts Jan. 3 at the newly dubbed FREE FM, his home studio in New York City. (The first guest is his Uncle Manny Roth, who ran the storied Cafe Wha in Greenwich Village.) His only diva-esque request for revamping Mr. Stern’s space was the installation of a 10-by-10-foot patch of parquet floor. He is an incorrigible pacer – “I call it Dave’s famous walk to nowhere” – and plans to do his show standing up. Wearing army boots

Roth sings on versions of “Jump” and “Jamie’s Cryin'”. Other VH favorites given the bluegrass treatment include “I’ll Wait”, “Hot for Teacher” (by David Grisman and Sons), “Eruption”, “Panama” and “Unchained”.

Google Music Search

December 15th, 2005 by BMF

December 15, 2005

Google has just launched a music-specific search engine… mirroring successful services involving news, photos, and shopping results. The music offering, which went live early this morning, delivers artist-related images, lyrics, reviews, discographies, and news, as well as links to purchase CDs and downloads. The suite of results can be triggered by simply entering a music-specific query, like “Prince,” “All-American Rejects,” or “Mozart”. Several digital music stores are represented in the e-commerce results set, including iTunes, MSN Music, CD Universe, Rhapsody, and Wal-Mart. The service also aggregates reviews from sources including Rolling Stone, Canoe, and Blender, and compiles a consensus rating (out of five stars). Links to relevant lyrics sites are organized within song-specific pages….
I bet publishers won’t like this service.

Death to the original punk rock comedian

December 10th, 2005 by BMF

Richard Pryor died today in a hospital close to home in Encino, CA. I remember Richard this way: My dad rented a video of Richards..around the 80’s…the first time I heard the word MOTHERFUCKER on a tv. He was raw for sure…a bet a lot of people in the comedy and film industry are thanking their lucky asses that Richard Pryor was born into this world..hence their carreers.

Prince’s “New” deal

Prince signs new deal with Uninversal and is expected to hit the road again following the next release…imagine that seeing how his last tour for Musicology made over 90 MILLION dollars. Like his last deal with Sony’s Columbia label, the deal looks like a “one off deal”.

The Music Industry goes after lyrics sites and tabulature sites. It has shut numerous sites down already.

My Moral Code Isn’t That Strict

My moral code isn’t that strict

December 27th, 2005 by BMF

John Lydon spoke with the Sun Online in a webchat about whether the Pistols will ever play again and had some (un)kind words to a person saying he is a fan of Green Day and Blink 182 and wondered what John thought of them. And finally we here what he thinks about being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame….he had this to say:

Were you happy to get inducted into America’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this year?

I couldn’t give a f***! Being inducted – it sounds like something sexually unpleasant. I don’t need awards, I’m not for that world.

+| Drugs: Why not fill yourself with something that can give you a fake sense of security, confidence, or superiority? I mean as long as you are happy, who cares what other people think? Remember, it is all in your mind. No matter what they say, where they lock you up, in the end it will be your fault, and your fault only. If you are winning in your mind, you could be burning to death with maggots eating at your skin, and you could still feel as if you’ve accomplished something. Get a drug habit and die.

The Coffin Lids ‘Round Midnight’ is the newest release from The Coffin Lids hailing from Boston. “Walk a mile in my shoes” clocks in with buzzing guitars and vocals that make you believe these guys have walked many a Rock and Roll mile. I can picture seeing these guys playing live with every member pausing between songs to take a sip of whiskey only to drive into the next song harder and louder. They sound Rock & Roll and they are Rock & Roll. Track eight, “Action” has some great sounding vocals and a beat that keeps you guessing what comes next. “Kick out of you” reminds me of the Stooges for some reason. “She’s the Bomb” has a really cool driving beat that makes me wanna do just that..drive fast. “Creepy Crawl” has the band giving there own version of a sing along dance along song done with the cool sound that creeps out of each song on this disc. The Coffin Lids

Round Midnight‘ is the newest release from The Coffin Lids hailing from Boston. This is the first time I’ve heard the band and I really like what I hear. “Walk a mile in my shoes” clocks in with buzzing guitars and vocals that make you believe these guys have walked many a fucking mile. I can picture seeing these guys in a garage type venue with every member pausing between songs to take a sip of whiskey only to drive into the next song harder and louder. They sound Rock & Roll and they are Rock & Roll. Track eight, “Action” has some great sounding vocals and a beat that keeps you guessing what comes next. I really hope these guys come to Atlanta to play there own brand of sleazy Rock & Roll. “Kick out of you” reminds me of the Stooges for some reason. “She’s the Bomb” has a really cool driving beat that makes me wanna do just that…drive…fast. “Creepy Crawl” has the band giving there own version of a sing along dance along song done with the cool sound that creeps out of each song on this disc. The last track on this disc “Tonight you’re gonna die in my garage” reminds me a bit of The Ruiners. What ever happened to those guys anyway? The Coffin Lids have proven their bad ass rock music to me with this disc. I will not only go see them live if they come around Atlanta but I’ll eagerly await each release they put out.

The Hypstrz

November 21st, 2005 by BMF

Bomp records has just released this disc which is a re-release of the 180gram record from 1980 featuring exclusive liner notes and some extra tracks. “The Hipstrz – Live at the Longhorn” is unlike a lot of “live” albums you hear in that it actually sounds live. If you’re having a party and want to throw on a disc that will last for more than a few minutes this is for you. With 37 tracks consisting of some covers and originals this may be the perfect party record. Punk-a-fied garage rock is exactly right.

The Germs tore up the stage at the L.A. “Waking the Dead” show last saturday night. They shared the stage with Fear, Flipper and the Suicidal Tendencies. Shane West who was once on TV’s ‘ER’ took the stage and did Darby Crash justice just as many speculate he will do when he plays Darby in the new movie “What we do is Secret“. Some are saying that the band will actually tour with West fronting the band which features original guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Lorna Doom and drummer Don Bolles.

The Germs

November 2nd, 2005 by Administrator

LA hosted a classic punk rock show last saturday night with the Suicidal Tendencies, Flipper, Fear and the Germs taking the stage showing that punk rock is far from dead. Police had to shut down the streets outside the venue after the show to prevent rioting. When Fear took the stage the crowd suddenly became vicious and stormed the stage. The Germs featured a suprise lead vocal by none other than Shane West of ER fame who coincidently is starring the the film “What we do is Secret” about the life and Darby Crash and the Germs.

Lemmy to speak for Anti-Drug campain

November 2nd, 2005 by Administrator

Lemmy
Lemmy once said in an interview in the mid 80’s that a doctor told him that if he stopped taking amphetamines that the shock to his metabolism might kill him. He has also said that taking acid gives him a different perspective on writing songs. But he has always held true that he hates heroin. Lemmy accepted an invitation by Tory Welsh assembly member William Graham to address the assembly on drug abuse. The 59-year-old singer will give his talk on Thursday (Nov. 3) — before a gig in Cardiff.

“Frankly, young people are more likely to listen to him,” Graham told the BBC News.

Graham was prompted to contact Lemmy by his researcher after a recent Channel 4 documentary on the band, “Live Fast Die Old”, where he spoke about his hatred of heroin.
